My wife and I shop there at least twice a week. We love the deli food. The pork and rotisserie chicken are fabulous. Some of the best fried chicken around. We have always had good shopping experiences until recently. Last week I was ordering fried shrimp, and fried fish dinners for my wife and I. I asked the young lady if we could have cole slaw as one of our sides. She quickly replied "we can't do that no more". This conversation was overheard by another lady who quickly corrected the situation and said "yes we can". Cole slaw with fish and shrimp should be a no brainer! Turns out we got home and the slaw was bad. Like someone had gotten the recipe wrong and added a wrong ingredient. I called the store, asked for the deli manager and spoke with someone whom I told about the bad slaw. I felt like I was wasting my time. There was no offer made to rectify the situation. I wonder how many people bought bad slaw and said nothing.
Then this evening I went to the deli with the intention of getting a rotisserie chicken and some sides for dinner. The menu offers a four vegetable meal. I approached the deli counter and was greeted by the same young lady as the week before. I ordered a double order of potatoes and gravy and a double order of green beans as a four vegetable meal. I had done this many times before. "We don't do that no more" was the now familiar response. "You can't double up. You gotta get different vegetables or I have to weigh your food" I was dumbfounded. Then she repeated it. She seemed to take pleasure in telling me no.
Love the people. It close to home. Buy groceries here every other Saturday.
I understand it's a dying grocery chain, but it doesn't look like it's been updated since its erection in the early 2000's. It looks bad on the inside. Not very welcoming and the Ingles brand named products aren't very good quality.
On any given night, the deli may only offer four, maybe five vegetables to choose from. It is patently absurd to offer a four vegetable plate and not allow the customer to get a double order without being penalized. I question whether this is truly their policy, or if I simply had the bad luck of getting a vindictive server. Whatever the case, I took my business elsewhere. Sad.
Great store. Friendly and helpful employees. Very clean bathrooms! Great selections in this Ingles. The deli and bakery are wonderful. Hot home cooked meals (love the fried chicken) or tasty sub sandwich! You can't go wrong!
Friendly service with an excellent selection of groceries. Also an excellent deli serving hot, tasty meals at very reasonable prices.
